Finished vessel of judgement

Wow did I finish this guy quick. I've pretty well pulled out every trick in my book short of to get it done. I would have liked to have spent more time on it, but my insane time commitments just didn't give me a chance and I wasn't able to assemble without painting.

Having said that, I'm actually pretty happy with it as an overall effect. What's more, it's actedas a test model for my Menoth scheme and it seems to have worked.

I'm intending to work on the basis that where technique fails, scale will prevail.

Vessel of judgement (WIP)

So I has a vessel now:-) that makes all the warmachine battle engines bar the gun carriage that I've worked on and I've loved them all. I can only imagine how cool the colossals will be!

by the way, I hate gold when dealing with this sort of volume. It's just such a hard colour to get right over such a large area...

More orange elves

Mostly just a bunch of Wip photos tonight. I'm generally pretty happy with how the elves are coming along and the client seems very satisfied with the photos, so I suppose its working out.

I will say that the Scibor bases are certainly epic. Actually a tad hard to work with, but awesome in appearance. If nothing else this army is really going to stand out.

Working on the arcanist and Eiryss 2 tonight. They're actually closing in on finished, but its getting a bit later, so its time to finish up finish up for the night.

On another note I bought a tablet the other day. Wow does that make this blog thing easier!

Orange retribution

So I'm doing a commission for a friend as well and he is very keen on a bright orange Ret army. I don't mean a strong earthy orange, he wants bright and punchy.

Long story short? Trying to balance a color that intense is not the most enjoyable exercise I've done. I think I've managed it though, at least on the casters. I was done a favor with the bases he chose - they are large enough to have a significant balancing factor of their own.

Overall I'm really happy with the effect. Against all my better judgement I actually think it worked!

These were also the first things I tried airbrushing. The faces on the bases have all been airbrushed.

Warjack update

So the last of this lot of warjacks is done, 4 infantry models and this round of cryx is finished. I'll be squeezing in some quick Ret models for another mate before more cryx!

WIP on the jacks

So the warjacks are still progressing. I haven't taken a photo of all at this point but there are two death chickens, Erebus, Malice and Nightmare.

Still very happy with how the two-brush blending is going. I can see that getting better. Yet to add glow effects to these guys though.

Thrall update

Still a solid WIP (stupid Christmas lack-of-time), but coming along nicely.
